Best Food I ate in the Magic Kingdom

It's Disney World food time!
It's no secret that I am a HUGE Disney fan. The Disney parks will always be one of my favourite places to visit for a holiday. They are top tier when it comes to crafting a place of wonder and whimsy that can make even the most mature adults feel like little kids again. The Magic Kingdom especially as that is where the iconic Sleeping Beauty castle resides and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (the best ride in the park, in my opinion). I ate a quite a few things whilst meandering down Main Street USA but here are the places I would definitely visit again:
Gaston's Tavern
Get. The. Cinnamon. Rolls. This is not up for debate. I remember reading a bunch of Disney food bloggers singing the high praises of this sweet treat tucked away in Fantasyland and thought they were exaggerating - until I tasted it. The roll is so light and fluffy and the cinnamon filling actually tastes of cinnamon. The icing makes the whole thing delectably sticky and it is served WARM. I will never understand places that serve cinnamon rolls cold - if you hate your customers, just say it. I feel there's no need to stress this again, but just for good measure - get the rolls! Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments
Another quick service restaurant I'd recommend if you are looking for a pick-me-up after visiting the 999 ghosts in the Haunted Mansion. They serve waffles and funnel cake (the latter is a Disney rite of passage) but if you're looking for something a little less sweet, then get the Chicken and Waffles. It still leans towards a sweet taste but it has a light amount of spice in the background. When I went, it also came with a greens coleslaw which helped temper some of the sweetness. There was also a super refreshing 50th Celebration drink which tasted like berries in a spooky shade of purple but am pretty sure that's not on the menu anymore.

Colombia Harbour House
They do a really good lobster roll with chips (not crisps, actual chips). The roll is full of sweet and juicy lobster meat in a tangy dressing. The portion is big enough that you don't need the chips but I am not one to turn down fried potato. They do a lot of New England style dishes here and mum said her clam chowder was creamy and well-seasoned.

Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen
I loved this restaurant. The entire restaurant's theming is based off the Jungle Cruise ride that it sits behind which means there are puns and quirky jokes scattered everywhere. (Who doesn't have fond memories of The Backside of Water? iykyk). The food on offer covers quite a few cuisines from North Africa to East Asia but it cleverly remains ambiguous about its style. I'd say if you like a Chinese takeaway and a few gentle spices, then this is the place for you! I had the falafel starter and I still think about it. The falafel was crispy and light with enough spices to keep things interesting. The houmous was smooth and a little tangy and the toasted seeds added a nice texture. The main event was the baramundi fish in an asian broth. The skin was crispy with flaky soft flesh but the broth was just ok. I remember it was well seasoned with definite hits of ginger but it was nothing to write home about. Saying that, I would 100% return to Jungle Navigation Skipper Canteen because I have spotted some new things on their menu and I love a themed restaurant.
Now I would feel slightly bad if I didn't tell you about some things that I tried which weren't things I would recommend. Of course, you are free to eat whatever, these are just my opinions on the food that was less than magical.
Main Street Bakery
It's a Starbucks. Yes it is in Disney and they sell very cute Disney themed pastries (like my cinnamon roll) but it is still a Starbucks. You can visit one anywhere (there are 3 where I live) so I don't see the point in standing in a very long queue to buy an overpriced coffee. However, I will admit if it is your first day in the park and feeling a bit jet-lagged, Main Street Bakery is right by the parade route so great if you need caffeine and a minute to get your bearings.

Adventureland's Spring Roll Cart
This little kiosk in Adventureland split the jury. We went during the 50th Celebration so there was a seasonal pastrami and pepperjack cheese roll which was essentially tasted like a Reuben sandwich - loved it, no notes. The other option was the infamous cheeseburger roll which I was not a fan of. I think my main issue was the texture - it felt like a pre-chewed burger, stuffed into a wonton wrapper and deep-fried. Not so nice considering they were around $9.
Churros
I know, shocking. There are people who are die hard by Disney World churros fans but I seriously disliked them. I'm hoping I had a bad batch but the one I had was so dry and it dried out my mouth. I can't imagine how they should taste so if you are a lover of the churros stick, please tell me why.
That's my round up of the best things I ate in the Magic Kingdom! If you have been or have a trip planned, I would love to hear from you.
Have a magical week!
Mary xx
